This is now closed and I think it's a Chinese restaurant called Chi's!

ORIGINAL REVIEW: 7 September 2004 |
I can't think of any reason for anyone to go out of their way to visit this pub (unless they're on a mission to visit every pub in town!). There's plenty of other better places just crawling distance away (for example the Butler, which does decent beer and is a more pleasant all round pub). The place is scruffy and edging towards falling apart. I wasn't sure the bench we selected was going to make it through my pint. Add to that the selection of regulars and I wouldn't exactly describe it as a welcoming establishment. G.
The bench was a bit wayward I must admit. I think it had been drinking before we turned up though. To be fair we did see someone watering the window boxes which was a nice touch so they do care for it a bit at least. Some of the inside seemed uncared for and even unsure what it was supposed to be but they had a couple of quite funny posters and 'gags' above and around the bar which gave it a 'regulars' type feel. One was concerning the Middlesbrough Southern Supporters Club or such like so it gets a thumbs up from me for that one.
The bar man - or should I say bar boy seemed completely out of place for a pub like this being the fresh faced 12 year old he appeared to be, (of course I am sure he is actually old enough to work in a pub and just looks a lot younger) but he poured me a pint so he's alright by me. S.
Yep, the jokes around the bar cheered the place up a bit - I guess you'd get to like the place if you were a local. G.

BEER EXPERIENCE |
Flowers was the only obvious beer on offer - it wasn't too bad though. They had a couple of lagers including XXXX. Nothing to get excited about at all. G.
I thought the Flowers was as good as can be expected and didn't disappoint. That might be the only thing though. S.
