ORIGINAL REVIEW: 6 November 2004 |
Most definately a party pub. A good proportion of the place is a night club with a large dance floor. The bar itself is a decent size up some steps from the rest of the place - giving Bar Risa a real nightclub feel when combined with the late night license and the glitzy feel of the place. Some very funky sea shell arrangements on the wall complete with shimmery lights make you feel that you've underwater. On the otherhand the rest of the place is all coloured red with torch simulation lighting on the pillars. Much nicer feeling than Bar Med that was approaching dump-like, but in the same category - a late night place to drink and dance until the early hours. G.
It is better than Bar-Med in the decor but then it is slightly newer so it should be and I did notice a shabbiness to the steps leading up to the bar and those girlies should stop wearing stilettos as it is doing untold damage to the laminate flooring!
Generally nice decor and I like to have a little dance here. It's also normally a good crowd and not too young and punchy like some places in town. I didn't mention the Barracuda directly there you'll notice. This is definitely, one of the better clubpubs in town for me. S.
If you'd stop wearing those high heel shoes and doing your little dance on each visit then the place would be in much better condition. G.
You know I look good in them though. S.

BEER EXPERIENCE |
A choice of a few lagers but very much a standard range of drinks. Plenty of spirits available, so they don't obviously specialise in cocktails or anything unusual or exciting. The lager was very fizzy too. G.
I can't get over how fizzy the San Miguel was! They have to calm it down alittle and remove the big head. Nothing to get excited about though and as a trendy bar they could improve the draught lagers a touch. S.

"Such a good night if you get a big group of friends together. Takes a long time to get a drink so if you are intent on getting drunk do it before hand or stay downstairs! UPSTAIRS IS THE BEST PLACE!!"

"Myself and some friends decided to go to Bar Risa last thursday evening (13/04/06) and it took us an hour and 37 minutes to get in and get a drink. We will not be going there again!"

"Good place to go on a Friday night, somewhere to go when you wanna just dance away!! Seem to always end up in Risa as they give out free entry leaflets! So look out for them!"

"I'm the new Saturday night DJ at Bar Risa in Reading and wondering if you can come and do another review of a Saturday night on both upstairs and down, in Risa nation wide we have bin told to cut down on the amount of r-n-b that we play so a Saturday is more dance/funky house than anything else plus loads of old skool, cant forget that, so if you can on your next visit to use review a Saturday night and post your findings then that would be cool to see what sorta sober-ish people think."
