ORIGINAL REVIEW: 18 May 2007 |
Apparantly Cerise is the French word for cherry don't you know - which will explain the decor in here. It's a good name for this place which focuses on extravagence. The word for this place is opulent. I looked it up in my dictionary and it's perfect. Nice padded chairs, and there's a good area down the left of the bar if you can get in there to live it up. Lots of expensive bottles behind glass. We weren't sure if we should pop in but it's a good job we did as it's a proper bar as well as a restaurant. The very shiny bar has plenty of Champagne out on display and an overflow of smartly dressed waiters ready to take your order. In fact you feel you should be smartly dressed to even be in here. S-Man fitted in a treat and immediately started talking hardcore top level business to blend us in nicely with the others at the bar. It was hard to believe it was the same person that, not many years ago, was stood proudly next to a pool of his own vomit outside the Flyer and Firkin. I found it very hard to score this place. It's in a different league to most establishments in Reading, but then it's not really the same thing. G.
Firstly, and coincidently I did know that as I have just been to the south of France staying very near a place called Ceret which is famous for it's cherry's and they are having a cherry festival there right now! I kid you not! Secondly, that hard core top level business bollocks was just that you know, bollocks! I guess you had worked that out yourselves anyway. It kept us entertained for a few minutes though! Thirdly, it's not that hard to believe is it - I would still be proud today! Oh yes, the place. You might feel a bit of a twat if you walked in here in your jeans and any old T-shirt (oh yeah, that was you wasn't it G!!) Very nice place indeed, top level swank all round, but I'm not entirely sure why most of us would come here for a drink. Wasn't devoid of atmos, it had a nice cosy feling about the place, but unless you are feeling a bit like pushing the boat way out there you'll probably stay on the shore! But let's face it, that's the point. Scoring is tricking, but for what it is, it was very good. S

BEER EXPERIENCE |
I think this is probably the place to drink Champagne to celebrate some major business deal. Or maybe early evening cocktails for the ladies. Not the place for a pint of lager! However, there were a few reasonable bottled lagers in the fridge at crazy prices. G.
Indeed - top price for a bottle of Corona in town me thinks, but I don't what HA HA are charging these days, they're probably not far behind! Lord only knows what they charge for a bottle of champers darlings! S.
