The Clifton Arms is a nice old style pub. Nothing fancy going on but it felt like a nice place to hang out and drink with a friendly set of people. A few people at the bar were especially chatty, although they did keep going on how young we were to be drinking in this pub (haven't been told that for a while) - looking around we did bring the average age down! The decor is smart enough, basic in parts with the usual pub furniture, but some nice gas fires that look real and give a proper warmth to the place. There's a good sized front bar with a dining area round the back, which was filled up on our visit with some kind of pre-christmas do going on. G.
I can't really remember this now, it was part of a crawl and it was a while ago. But I guess that means it wasn't that memorable.
Probably a good local and the couple of guys who were talking to us (though they weren’t locals to this place) were quite funny and kept us amused with tales of the Moderation. The thing about the nice fireplace sounds familiar but that's about it. Apart from the big Christmas nosh down that was going on in the restaurant bit behind the bar which looked like fun. Sorry!!. S

BEER EXPERIENCE |
You'd expect a better range of beer in an old traditional style pub like this - you'd think it was a proper real ale pub until you get to the bar. Unless I'm mistaken the only real ale available was the standard Brakspear Bitter. I thought it was a good pint though - although Debbie says it was served a touch too cold. G.
