Theme pub with a difference. The pub is set out like an old Dicken's Victorian London street. Nip in one of the houses, and sit down while looking at of the window. Well, that's the idea anyway. Got a pool table. G.|
Very novel really as far as decor goes on this one. I think it's worth visiting once just to see it and I did enjoy watching a game of footie through a bay window! Possibly a bit twee now I'm thinking about it but you can't win 'em all can you!! S.
When you say "novel" is that a clever pun or is Marie giving you far too much credit for that one? G.
Buy a pint and get the second for just a quid was a pretty decent deal! Some proper beers on offer, although I'm sure the Speckled Hen had been pumped full of extra gas to generate a vast head. Oh yes, my memory's good. In fact it's flooding back and I remember discussing how they were lacking any kind of Premium lager - lager boys beware! G.|
My memory isn't quite so good after all - apparantly Great Expectations deals in both Stella and Kronenbourg - must have missed them in the haste to taste that Old Speckled Hen. [Thanks to Dom for the feedback] G.
Well, my memory isn't so good but then i am writing this over 3 weeks after actually going there. The beer was ok from what I remember, decent enough selection and I had a pint and a half (due to the aforementioned 'deal' and not because I actually ordered a half on purpose you understand), which slipped down very nicely. S.
