I reckon the Iguana is the older brother of Afroba - both give out a very similar feeling. If you like Afroba you'll love this place - and vice versa. The Iguana is much brighter but is the same small size, upstairs above a food place, with a scattering of random chairs that don't match. The whole place oozes alternative funky feelings that make it a very different place to spend the evening. For this reason I could happily spend hours in here early evening. There were only a couple of other people in here on our midweek evening visit and we got to spread out on the sofa and feel very chilled out. The place feels very relaxed from the warm red decor and lighting through to the excellent cane bar and the friendly and efficient service from the guy behind the bar. G.
This is definitely a more complete bar than the Afrobar though. I thought it was a good chunk bigger and all had less of an afterthought feeling about it than the Afrobar did. Similar vibe with the venues though but the bar here with the big chunky cane was rather special. It gets busy and very groovy upstairs on a Friday or Saturday night and as G said it was very quiet and relaxing when we where there early Wednesday evening. If you like this groovy studenty type of place you'll be very happy and even if it's not your bag it nice and relaxing in the early evening. S.

BEER EXPERIENCE |
The Iguana is a small bar above a cafe/restaurant and so there wasn't any draught beer available. There was, however, a reasonable selection of bottled beer in the fride behind the bar. The emphasis was very much towards unusual lager from various corners of the world, but there were a good few proper beers in bottle format including the Rye Beer which was a new one on me and actually very enjoyable. G.
And I enjoyed my Desperados with it's little kick of Tequila! Quite yummy! S.

"I love this bar- it's one of Reading's best kept secrets!
Reggae nights on a Saturday are fantastic, especially in the height of summer, just kick back on a bean bag and chill out for the night"
