ORIGINAL REVIEW:
29 September 2004

Update: 11 July 2007: This isn't a proper re-review as we haven't been back inside. Just a quick note as the place has apparantly changed into a "straight friendly" gay bar since our last visit. It's now got extended opening hours too, making it a bit of a late night party venue (licensed to 3am at weekends I understand). Still looks similar from the outside though. G.

Original Review:
Like the beer, the whole place was much better than I'd thought it would be. They've done the place up recently and it was in immaculate condition inside and out. They've got a full size pool table with blue balls right buy the door, which really matched the image of the place. It's clearly very well looked after and being a smallish place really added to it's appeal. I can't quite put my finger on why I liked this place as much as I did. G.
Find something else to put your finger on then! It was a smallish place with a square bar area in the middle which was quite a nice layout. It reminded me in style of the Orange House as it was recently refurbed so in pretty good nick and quite bright and cheery. A bit of a sofa to relax on but not an overly comfy looking one. Can't fault it too any great extent. S.

BEER EXPERIENCE

It's a only a small pub with a small bar, and I wasn't expecting much. It was very pleasant suprise to find a big blackboard propped up on the bar announcing they had a Cask Ale on the go - Adnams Broadside. And sure enough - it was a very tasty pint indeed! Only the one cask ale but one is beter than none when you weren't expecting any. G.
The rest of the brews on offer were standard pub fare so nothing to write home about. S.
