ORIGINAL REVIEW: 20 October 2004 |
As I said at the time, the place feels like an unofficial student union bar with the bar staff, the punters, and the general layout of the pub. It's actually very neat and tidy but they've attempted to go for a scruffy look if that makes any sense at all. The lights are oil barrels sawn in half with red light bulbs, and the rest of the furniture is attempting to look basic. There's pool tables, the odd sofa, and benches out the back, making the place a very acceptable student hang out. G.
You did say that at the time and you are spot on old chap. Student heaven here but not too shabby for the rest of the world to want to run away. Can't say it's great though and I hate going to the bar as it makes me feel 3 foot tall!
Some new furniture in here and the scream themed lighting etc looks pretty cool for the young’ns. Knowing what we do now about the Upin Arms this is a much nicer establishment and a bit livelier to boot. I'm not going to get carried away though. S.

BEER EXPERIENCE |
As you would expect for a pub that attracts a younger crowd, the concentration here is on lagers - and they have a very fine selection indeed. There's five lagers on the go including Cobra, San Miguel, Grolsch, and Stella. G.
