ORIGINAL REVIEW: 15 December 2004 |
I was a bit suprised by this place as it's a full on pub with plenty of room rather than being a small part of the restaurant. It's officially titled the "Sardar Wine Bar", which makes it probably sound a bit grander than it is. It's got loads of seating, it's own bar entirely seperate from the restaurant, and a pinball machine that makes you think you can actually play after five pints. There's a whole stack of wooden furniture that convinces you that you really are in a proper pub. There was even a few other people in there. G.
It does do a convincing impression of a pub but the building lets you know it's really a restaurant. The pub half itself has all the right things, wooden chairs, scary carpet etc but it is rather plain and a bit sparse to be in anyway interesting. I guess not many would actually come to this pub half unless they were going to have a curry and I don't think anyone should. S.

BEER EXPERIENCE |
The Lal Toofan stuff looked like the real authentic Indian beer, so it had to be done in a place that's main purpose in life is Indian food. As it turned out it was brewed somewhere near Swindon or similar. Tasted like quite an unusual lager - Red Stripe was the closest thing we could think off. They did have a couple of other standard lagers on draught as well as bottles. G.
Very nice the Lal, definitely a Red Stripe type beer and was ok for a quick one. Coudn't say much about whatelse was on offer but it was pretty limited as you could imagine given this is really a restaurant. S.
