ORIGINAL REVIEW: 9 October 2004 |
It's a cross between a swanky town centre late night bar/club and a pub. And it's even got quite a restauranty feel about it. We were here on a Saturday night and there was plenty of eating and drinking going on to very loud pop-style music - maybe they could do with a dance floor? Apart from the long main bar, with an area for hanging out in, it's all tables arranged a bit like a food establishment. It's all very clean and tidy as you'd expect in the Oracle with lots of spotlights on the ceiling. I did notice a selection of well dressed ladies who made the place look very pleasant indeed. Probably a good place to start your big weekend night out when you're all glammed up and ready to party - before moving onto somewhere else to release all that drunken energy. Oo-er. G.
They did have a small token gesture of a dance floor. Just behind where we were sitting and to the left of the toilets - it was that empty area that the group of blokes we loitering beside. Not much of one though. I think it ahs recently been slightly refurbed and as a result looks fresh and more like a townie bar. The furniture before made it feel a bit more pubby in the eating area.
I think a lot of people use it as a place to come and eat whilst some as a place to drink but the long bar area isn't conducive to creating a bar atmosphere and that lets it down a bit for me. S.

BEER EXPERIENCE |
Usual town centre selection of mainstream beverages. In fact there wasn't even an exciting display of cocktail lists or anything like that to set it aside. Lots of wine bottles behind the bar, so the must be a reasonable selection for the ladies anyway. I bet it was an expensive bar too, but I can't remember. G.
It wasn't more than you would expect. £10.00 odd for two large glasses of plonk and a bottle of Corona. Quite a few bottles on offer and a few lagers but nothing exciting in the lager selection really. There were loads pof bottles of wine proudly displayed over the bar but that was all the usual suspects as well. S.

"In response to there being no cocktails - there is a massive selection of cocktails and shooters. Look at the menus!
