ORIGINAL REVIEW: 3 September 2004 |
Well, it's like a huge warehouse style place with an Australian theme. This visit was a late night Friday visit where they charge you four quid to get in and dance to some rather dodgy music. The downstairs has a dance floor area with a raised stage for showing off your funky moves and upstairs is nearly all dance arena. Wasn't the best its been on this visit - loads of space to move and a quiet atmosphere considering the time. Still, if you don't fancy a glitzy pub/club this might be an alterative to party on after pub closing. During the day it's a good place to come for drinking outside in good weather with it's upstairs decking. There's also cheap food during the day and lots and lots of TV screens everywhere. Not the place for a cozy pint though - during the day you've got about a square mile per person and air conditioning to freeze your nuts off. G.
What a very thorough review matey. You are getting good at this stuff and it almost sounds professional enough to be in some sort of guidebook - which is the idea I suppose! You also get the TV's showing what happening on the dance floor so you can watch and laugh at some of the dodgy dancing going or check out the ladies if they are looking good shaking their money maker! As G said though, it was pretty quiet for a Friday night and somehow never seemed to get going. The music also seemed to be below par for this place as I remember enjoying some very good evenings dancing away to blokey tunes from the likes of Blur et al many a time. I always find the upstairs dancefloor the best place to be on a good night as it's quite squeezed in and the atmos can be very much like a big party when it's busy. Downstairs is just too big and open for it's own good. S.

BEER EXPERIENCE |
Standard range of mainstream drinks is topped up with lots of Australian bottled beers. Good selection of imported Oz beers, and VB is certainly a nice change from a Euro style lager. Steve probably wont remember feeding the bar and the bar staff with a good helping of his bottle. G.
Your right, Steve doesn't remember that but suspects it to be true anyway. No, maybe there is a faint recollection of it but I can't be sure. Alsways go for the VB when you are in here, it feels like the right thing to do. I seem to remember some of the draught stuff being bit fizzy as well so good to stick to the bottle of the VB. S.

"To be fair I think this pub has its good moments and its bad moments, I went there not long ago and it was dire!! But they have re done the upstairs so its more recent tunes upstairs and the cheesy music downstairs which I personally can not stand. But They have been times yeah its been a good laugh. Also you might have trouble walking round downstairs as it is unbelievbly sticky, dirty as!! few twats in there, but what place doesnt!!"

"I've been here 3 or 4 times in the last year - under a fiver to get in, open 'til 2am. Music each time is the same dire mix of cheesey 80/90s music (note theme from Baywatch!) which is bizarre as majority of crowd are aged 17 - 23. Oh, and more evictions than in the Big Brother house, keeps the bouncers busy."

"Welcome to hell on earth. Horrible place to go on Saturdays unless you fancy a fight or chatting up orange people."

"Good pre-club place for a couple of beers and to sit outside on a warm evening, but just too big and barn like for a night out."
