ORIGINAL REVIEW:
10 July 2004

This was the first stop for the night and a good way to start. A very pleasant, well looked after local pub with a very big fish on the wall. Considering it's only a short walk from the Oracle and all the town centre development it seems a million miles away and would be more suited in the countryside somewhere - which makes it a very welcome pub located where it is. G.
Nice pub. Big fish on the wall. What more do I need to say! Probably that it was a 'trad' (that's a trendy short word for traditional) pub and it seem pretty nice too for the short time I was there. It seemed very friendly in there and a nice place to have a couple of relaxing beers. There are even a few tables outside should the weather be conducive and the best thing about the whole pub was the pub sign. Nice touch. Check it out! S.

BEER EXPERIENCE

That was a delicious summer tasting pint and no mistake. They also had a good selection of other beers including Bombardier, London Pride and 6X. G.
Nice beers and a decent selection of whatever takes your fancy. Good work guys! S.

VISITOR FEEDBACK [Give Your Feedback]

"I retract my last comment! It was based on our last trip but the pub has since changed hands (shows how long ago it was!) Great pub for watching the footie in and we'll definately be back to being regulars! :o)"

"The Hook & Tackle used to be a lovely local pub, just what you want as your local (living just a few hundred yards away) but since it changed hands, it's gone downhill. There's now TVs in every corner, music playing louder than in town and the beer isn't always great. They've even got a cocktail & shooter list! Turn it back to what is should be, a local pub where you go for a quiet pint and a chat with your mates."
