RE-REVIEW:
9 November 2006

Well, it was exactly the same as the first visit. No change at all but very tidy and really popular - packed out with office workers popping in for a swift one or two after work. Standing room only! Good service at the bar and a pleasant atmosphere. Good beer too. Limited bar snacks though. G.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

Lots and lots of wood everywhere. G.
Need I say more!! Yes I need. So I will. But first I would also like to make the point that they are very keen on wood here (no i am not being rude) and if it's not actually made of wood they will paint it brown so that it looks like wood! The bar itself is so small it reminded me of one of those tiny hotels bars that are added on as an afterthought. I felt it detracted from the 'bar area' as it was only big enough for 2 peolpe who were already there and you had to get in the way of them to get your beer. I also remember the bar man seemed very disinterested in my order and much more interested in the conversation he was having with said people at the bar. I've been in friendlier. S.

BEER EXPERIENCE

A real Fullers pub with London Pride, ESB, and Chiswick all on the go. Impressive for such a small bar! G.
Impressive but as it's a Fullers Pub not entirely surprising and not a selection outside their own brewery. the fact thay could fit so many pumps on such a small bar was impressive though. S.
On the re-visit they still had London Pride and Discovery - but a guest ale in the form of Goddards Bitter from the Isle of Wight. Very tasty too!

"This pub has recently gone through a lot of change but it has a new landlord and one to stay. The beer is just as good as it always has been but the food is something else. Try a Stockyard Special (lunchtime snack) and when the restaurant opens upstairs the food I am sure will be to die for!"

"Me and my buddy often come here of a friday for a little drink and a chat and for this it serves very well. Lovely service, a fair enough selection of drinks and...adequate prices make it a very pleasant place. Getting there early to get a nice seat is always a plus, as the 'standing room only' part wasn't kidding. And then I came back at midnight, and they were having a rave. Considering the size of the place I was very impressed..."

"This is a great little bar. It' still a 'traditional' style pub with a flagstone floor, but also has shisha available and an excellent restaurant upstairs. Friendly people and a laid-back vibe and some nights you can also catch some live acoustic music."

"You must have been in on a night when the regular barman was off. He's Egyptian, is the most friendly barman in town, although you might be put off by being called "Boss" all the time. Oh, and it's the only place I know of where you can smoke a "hubble-bubble" shisha. Never mind about the bar being small, once you're known in there he'll bring your beers over to your table!""
